Castles

The ancient seat of the Clan MacEwan lay on the shores of Loch Fyne, in Argyll. The castle was excavated by the members of the Cowal Archaeological Society and the girls of the British Girls Exploration Society in 1969. The results were published in the Glasgow Archaeological Journal, and are available here.

Rob Ewen, Treasurer for the Clan Ewen Society, US, has provided a drawing of the castle as it might have looked before 1500.

The Castle as It Might Have Been

The old castle site is often visited by Clan members, who have provided both pictures for the armchair traveler, as well as directions for those visiting Scotland.
